Ten questions to ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI about your business, a log to record every answer, and a ledger to find where each wrong fact comes from. It's a 10-question version of the check behind my paid AI answer audit, which runs 30 questions on 5 AI assistants, 3 runs each. The free snapshot asks 10 questions on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity.
The CSVs open in Google Sheets (File, then Import) or Excel. Updated October 27, 2026.
The buyer who types
your name is closest to buying.
In my AI answers field report, assistants named a business 90.2% of the time when the buyer typed its name (751 of 833 answers), and per business, between 15% and 35% of the answers that named it got at least one fact wrong. Wrong hours or a wrong address reach someone who was already about to call.
Getting named on questions that don't include your name is slower work: reviews, listings and the sites the answers cite. Questions 7 to 10 show you where you stand on that.
Five steps. Start with two assistants.
- Fill in the blanks. Replace [business], [city], [service] and [main competitor] in the 10 questions with your own. Write question 9 the way a customer would describe their problem to a friend.
- Ask in a clean session. Use a private window, logged out where the assistant allows it, with no earlier chat in the thread. Signed-in assistants can mix your own history into the answer.
- Ask each question three times. The same question gets different answers from one run to the next. Log every run, then count. One answer proves very little.
- Fill the ledger. For each fact, write what your website, each listing and the AI answers say. Every row that disagrees is a fix.
- Fix the source, then re-check. Correct the listing or page the wrong fact came from, then ask the same questions again a month later, the same way.
Assistants to check: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Claude. Start with the two your customers use most, then add the rest. Google's AI Overviews show up on a normal Google search; AI Mode is its own tab.
The ten questions.
Questions 1 to 6 name you and test accuracy. Questions 7 to 10 don't, and test whether you get named at all.
| # | Type | Ask | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q1 | By name | What is [business] in [city]? | Does it find you at all, and is it you, not a business with a similar name? |
| Q2 | By name | Is [business] in [city] any good? What do reviews say? | Which review sites it quotes, whether the rating and count are current, and any caution it adds. |
| Q3 | By name | What are the address, phone number and hours for [business] in [city]? | Every digit against your live website and Google profile, including holiday and weekend hours. |
| Q4 | By name | What services does [business] offer, and what doesn't it do? | Services you dropped, services you never offered, and the ones it leaves out. |
| Q5 | By name | Who owns or runs [business], and how long has it been in business? | Names, titles, credentials and the founding year. These drift the most between listings. |
| Q6 | By name | How much does [business] charge for [service]? | Old prices, invented prices, or a competitor's prices attached to your name. |
| Q7 | Best-of | Who is the best [service] provider in [city]? | Whether you're named, where you sit in the list, and which sites the answer cites. |
| Q8 | Who to hire | Which [service] provider in [city] should I hire for [a job you want more of]? | Whether you're named for the work you want, not only the work you're known for. |
| Q9 | Problem | [Your customers' most common problem, in their words]. What should I do, and who in [city] can help? | Whether the answer names anyone, and if it names someone else, why. |
| Q10 | Comparison | Should I choose [business] or [main competitor] for [service] in [city]? | Whether the comparison uses true facts about you, and where it got them. |
Log one row per run
| Question | Assistant | Date | Run (1 to 3) | Named you? (Y/N) | Recommended you? (Y/N) | Wrong facts (write each one) | Sites it cited |

10 questions, three runs, 7 assistants is 210 rows. The check log CSV has every row ready.
The listing-accuracy ledger: one fact per row, one true value.
Write what each source says. When two cells in a row disagree, the AI answers have two versions to choose from. Pick the true one and make every source match it.

Claim or update the three listings that feed maps first:
Then the directories the answers cite for your field. For lawyers that usually means profiles like Avvo, Justia, Super Lawyers and FindLaw; for doctors, Healthgrades, Zocdoc and Vitals. The guides for law firm profiles and doctor profiles walk through claiming each one.
I'll run the check
on your business.
Send your website and your market. I'll ask 10 questions your buyers ask on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, and within 48 hours you'll have what each one says about you, which facts are wrong and where they come from. Free, written by me, no call needed.
